Spellbinding says…Does the salicylic acid in Neutrogena's moisturizer for sensitive and acne-prone skin have any significant impact on the Clindoxyl and/or Differin topicals that I've been prescribed to put on my face in the morning and at night, respectively. I am in my early 30s and have tried everything to rid my face from the persistent torment of acne for years and years…. These two topicals are helping me keep it under control but I'm worried that my choice of moisturizer is working against them.
The Right Brain clears up her acne (question):
According to the Journal of the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology Clindoxyl … is a suitable alternative for patients who are currently using topical antibacterials either alone or in conjunction with other topical anti-acne agents or systemic antibacterials. So it looks like it's ok to use Sal Acid moisturizers with this product.
Differin is a different story, however. According to the FDA Moisturizers may be used if necessary; however, products containing alpha hydroxy or glycolic acids should be avoided.
So there you have it. If you're using Differin you'd better stay away from Sal Acid!
